Old Growth in the East: A Survey is now available through the website of the Old-Growth Forest Network http://www.oldgrowthforest.net/#!books/c1dyj  (scroll to bottom of page). This survey was published by Mary Byrd Davis in 2003. It is the only document of its kind, detailing the remaining old-growth forests in the eastern United States. Davis passed away in 2011 and her family donated the rights of the survey to the Network. Her family has also created a Mary Byrd Davis Nature Writing Residency in the French Pyrenees. Applications are now being accepted through March 31st. Proposals are welcomed from published writers in any area of environmental literature.
